Anime tattoos are getting more and more popular, and it’s easy to see why with their widespread influence and global appeal.
There are so many animes to choose from, each with their own unique characters and environments that make for really incredible tattoo designs.
Depending on the anime, they also can have pretty deep themes which can relate to a point in your life, or even something you’re experiencing in the moment. These themes can range from overcoming obstacles, enduring friendships, loyalty, and of course, love.

Our favorite anime tattoo artists
While many tattoo artists can pull off an anime piece, not many of them have dedicated their craft to perfecting the style.
I spent hours hunting down anime tattoo artists, and this list (in no particular order) show off 13 of my favorites.
Che-Wei
Che-Wei is an incredibly talented tattoo artist from Taiwan that has been perfecting his anime tattoo style for his whole career.
He excels at large designs and has a colorful yet subdued color palette.
Cris Ruvi
Chris Ruvi is a Spanish tattoo artist with an unmistakable love for anime, which carries through to his stunning tattoo designs.
I love his emphasis on larger pieces, where he’s really able to let the details shine through.
rareboyz___
This style jumped out at me because of their heavy use of black ink instead of colorful pieces. The work is all down by rareboyz, but I don’t know much about the artist beyond their Instagram account.
Nonetheless, their monochrome style is perfect for those looking to get something detailed, but a little more subdued.
Imran Ramazanov
I mean, come on.
Just look at how stunning Imran Ramazanov is able to utilize colors to make these anime tattoos pop off the skin.
His use of color is absolutely insane, and if you scroll through his Instagram, you can get an idea of how many different styles and subjects he’s done in the genre.
Valerio Spini
Valerio’s Instagram is a stunning portfolio of some of the best anime art around.
Not only does he excel at the style, but he specifically calls himself an anime artist and focuses only on tattoos in the genre.
Dewey Monn
I’m stunned at the amount of detail Dewey Monn is able to cram into all of his anime tattoo designs. This artist works out of Studio Lovecraft, and is a top contender if you’re looking to get a tattoo in the Seattle area.
Nick Limpens
Nick Limpens is a self-proclaimed “geeky tatts” artist, and of course, our beloved anime genre is going to fall nicely into that category.
This artist works out of Royal Ink in the Netherlands, and has a really punchy blackwork style that I’m immediately drawn to.
Andrés
Andres goes by aregui_kun on Instagram, and his page is packed with beautiful colored anime tattoos from a ton of different series.
I like how he adds a little bit extra to each character, making them more detailed and realistic.
Gabriel Barros
Gabriel Barros is a Brazillian artist currently tattooing out of Saracuruna at a shop called Nandertal Kings.
His expressive style belongs perfectly on this list, and you can immediately tell he’s an anime fan himself.
Kenneth Ruiz
If you’re looking for something a bit cuter in terms of style, Kenneth Ruiz is going to be one of my first recommendations.
His use of bright colors makes all of the artwork on his page seem much more playful than the average artist.
Adrian Rey
Adrian Rey is a Spanish tattoo artist that focuses his artwork on various subjects in the anime and videogame genre.
Camilo Gonzalez
Camilo Gonzalez is an artist in Chile that focuses on anime body art. Scrolling through his Instagram page is great, and you’ll notice they’ve really focused on consistency in their pieces.
It feels like everyone at this studio goes for arm tattoos!
Artem Sess
If you ever end up in Siberia looking for an anime tattoo artist (hey, you never know!) you’re going to want to head over to Artem Sess at Sessup Tattoos.
His focus is purely on anime and manga artwork and it looks like all his hard work has paid off.
